CHAPTER FIVE

“A little nervous?” Pan asked.

Bra stopped her pacing and glared at her friend with another scowl that did justice to her Saiyajin heritage. “What do you think?” she demanded. “I’m getting married to a guy that I love more than anything in the whole world, in fact, I can’t even stop loving, even if I wanted to, and now, in fifteen minutes, I’m going to totally formalize his hold on me by marrying him, and you think I might just possibly be a little nervous?”

Pan stepped back. “Whoa.  Okay, time for some relaxing breaths.  Seriously.  Okay.  Breathe in.  Breathe out.  Breathe in.  Breathe out.  Inhale.  Exhale.  There.  Feel any better?”

 “No.”
“Oh.  Well, I’ve done all I can.  Just don’t freak out like that in the middle of the ceremony, okay?”
 Bra sighed. “I won’t, I won’t.  Is there any aspirin?  I think I’m getting a headache.”

Pan grinned. “I’ll try to find some.” She opened the door. “I’ll be back in a minute, so don’t you even think about running away.”
Bra grabbed a pillow from a couch in the waiting room and threw it at her.
Pan dodged it and chuckled. “I’ll be right back.” She shut the door and left.
“Jerk,” Bra muttered under her breath.  She scowled at the door and resumed her nervous pacing.

Marron slipped in. “Hey, there, Bra-chan.  How’re you holding up?”
Bra looked at her sister-in-law and attempted a grin. “Well, I haven’t bolted yet, have I?”
Marron chuckled. “It’s scary,” she said simply.
 “What?”
“It’s scary…committing yourself totally to one person.  Forever and ever.” Marron took Bra’s hand. “Ooh, your hands are like ice,” she noted. “But I want to tell you that you and Goten are a perfect couple.  You guys were made for each other, and—don’t you dare roll your eyes at me, young lady.”
Bra giggled, feeling some of the tenseness drain out of her.

“See, that’s a much better expression for a girl on her wedding day.” Marron stepped up and fluffed Bra’s veil. “You look absolutely gorgeous, and Goten looks extremely handsome.  If I’d know he could look that handsome, I might have gone after him instead of Trunks.” She winked. “And don’t you ever tell either of them I said that.”
 “Of course not, Marron-chan.”
Marron tilted her head to one side. “Oh, it’s about to start.  I’d better go.” She squeezed Bra’s hand. “I’ll send Vegeta-san in.  And don’t worry.  Everything’s gonna be fine, I promise.”
 “I’ll hold you to that.”

Marron left and Pan came in. “Here’s your aspirin,” she said, handing her friend two pills and a glass of water.
Bra grinned. “I don’t think I need them anymore, but thanks so much for getting them.”
Pan grumbled as she left. “I’m supposed to be out there, and here I am, searching for aspirin, and do you even want them? No.”

Vegeta came in.  He stared at his daughter.  She looked beautiful.  That was the only way to describe her.  She looked beautiful and radiant…and Kakarott’s brat was the one who evoked such emotion?
“Hello, Tousan,” Bra said with a smile.
 “Bra-chan,” he acknowledged. “You look…beautiful.”
Her smile widened, knowing how hard it was for him to say that. “Thank you, Tousan.  You look quite handsome yourself.”
 “Feh.  Foolishness.  I look ridiculous.”
“No, Tousan, you don’t.” Bra gave him a quick hug, being careful not to crush anything.
“Is it time for us to go in yet?” Vegeta asked abruptly.
Bra listened to the music. “No, not yet.  About five more minutes.”
Vegeta folded his arms and leaned against the door. “Are you happy?” he asked suddenly.
Bra was a bit taken aback.  She considered the question, and suddenly realized that in spite of everything, she was.  She was totally and completely happy with Goten.  She smiled again. “Yes, Tousan.  I am.”
“Then all this is secondary.  You found your lifemate.  That is the important part.”
“Yeah.” Bra listened as the music changed. “Well, it’s time.  Let’s go.”

***

Goten looked at Bra.  His wife.  His wife.  His wife and lifemate.  He couldn’t believe it.  She loved him, despite everything, and he loved her.  He couldn’t help grinning a little. “So,” he said.
She looked up at him. “You kissed me in the ceremony,” she said, “and you held my hand as we left, but you haven’t touched me since.”
“I can remedy that very easily.”
 “Oh?”
He lifted her veil again and looked down at her.  He kissed her nose, then her cheek, then her chin, and finally her mouth.
She closed her eyes and wound her hands up in his hair.  The rest of the night passed with very few other words.

Ree: Lets just leave them alone, shall we? ^_^
Haruko: Ooh, yea, right!! Shhhhhh......
