Living with your Ghost: Chapter One

"byeeeeeeeeeee..."

Bulma set the the skillet she was using to make scrambled eggs on the counter, quickly taking off her gloves.

"Wait a second! Don't you need me to take you to school?" she demanded, putting her hands on her hips.

"Remember, MiKayla's mom is picking us up today," Bra said with an edge in her voice.  "I told you yesterday."

Bulma sat down at the table and her gaze drifted to the eggs again. "Okay. I'll see you after school today then."

Bra sighed.  "Mom.  Jenni's mom is going to take us to the mall after school today, and then we're sleeping over at Hanna's.  I've been talking about this since last week.  Don't you ever listen to me?"

Bulma looked at Bra for a moment.  "Honey, I'm just preoccupied. It's been a busy week for Capsule Corp."

Bra shook her head and turned to walk out the door, and in the same moment, Trunks came downstairs.  He sniffed the air and headed to the breakfast table.

"What's for breakfast?"

Bulma sighed.  "Eggs."

"Is that ALL?!"

"If you want something else, you can make it yourself.  I have to start interviewing for a new lab assistant today."

"Mom, I'm hungry!"

"Didn't you hear me?!"

Trunks leaned back a little.  "Okay then..." He grabbed his backpack from a rack and walked slowly out the door.

Bulma couldn't believe she just did that.  She could've at least given him a few dollars to get a snack.

*What's happening to me?*

She sank lower in her seat.

*Vegeta...*

She started to cry.

*Why didn't our relationship last?*

In the past months, Vegeta, Bra, and even Trunks seemed to expect more and more from her.  They couldn't understand Capsule Corp. was getting busier and busier, which required Bulma to hire more employees, and made her work around the clock.  She wiped the tears off of her face and sat up.

Bulma got up out of the chair, and stood staring at the floor.

*Vegeta...*

She couldn't help but start to sob again.
