Chapter Two

For two days, Trunks avoided Goten, which was fine, because Goten was avoiding him.  Marron and Bra didn¡Çt
talk, and Marron had no idea why, but she really didn¡Çt care, until one day after school.  Marron was getting her bike out, when Bra came running up.

        ¡ÈHey, Marron!¡É  Bra called.

        ¡ÈHi Bra.¡É Marron said.

¡ÈSo, um . . .¡É Bra said.  No sense beating around the bush. ¡ÈCancel your date with Goten.¡É

        ¡ÈNani?  No!¡É Marron said.

        ¡ÈYou don¡Çt understand!  I need you to.¡É

        ¡ÈWhy?¡É

        ¡ÈBecause!  Just because.¡É Bra said.

¡ÈIf you won¡Çt give me a reason, then iie!¡É Marron said.

        ¡ÈJeez!  You¡Çre such a jerk!¡É Bra said.

        ¡ÈJerk?  Me?  I didn¡Çt do anything wrong!¡É Marron said.

        ¡ÈOh yeah?¡É

        ¡ÈFine, what did I do wrong?¡É

        ¡ÈYou?you . . .¡É

¡ÈI¡Çm sorry you¡Çre upset, but I¡Çm not going to cancel.¡É Marron said, then grabbed her motor bike, and zoomed away.

¡ÈArrgh!¡É Bra said, stomping her foot.

********

Marron hopped of her motor bike, and ran inside.  She didn¡Çt know what to do about Bra.  She had no idea why she was mad.  She didn¡Çt have much time to ponder that.

        ¡ÈMarron, phone¡Çs for you!¡É Her mom called.

        ¡ÈMoshi moshi?¡É Marron asked.

        ¡ÈHey, it¡Çs Goten.¡É

        ¡ÈHi Goten.¡É Marron said happily.  ¡ÈWhy¡Çd you call?¡É

        ¡ÈI just wanted to call.¡É

¡ÈOh, that¡Çs sugoi.¡É Marron said, and flopped down on her bed. ¡ÈSo, where do you want to go on Saturday?¡É

¡ÈUm, how about Old Chicago?¡É Goten said.

¡ÈOkay.¡É Marron said.  ¡ÈI hope this won¡Çt cost that much.¡É

¡ÈDon¡Çt worry, it won¡Çt.¡É Goten said.

¡ÈHow do I know that?¡É She asked with a laugh.  ¡ÈI¡Çve gone out with half Saiyans before.¡É

¡ÈI¡Çll hold my appetite.¡É Goten said.

        ¡ÈI sure hope so.¡É Marron said.  ¡ÈSo . . . um, what¡Çs your favorite ZE song?¡É

        ¡ÈOh . . . ¡ÆGoing On.¡Ç¡É

        ¡ÈMine¡Çs ¡ÆHold Me Once More.¡Ç¡É She said.

        ¡È¡ÆSun Wings¡Ç is good.¡É He said.

¡ÈI hope they play ¡ÆNo One Knows.¡Ç¡É She said.

¡ÈIt was a number one hit, I¡Çm sure they will.¡É Goten said. ¡ÈI just want them to play ¡ÆJester in the Corner.¡Ç¡É

¡ÈI hope so, too.  Or ¡ÆClear Eye.¡Ç¡É Marron said.

¡ÈGoten!  Get off the phone!  I need to use it now!¡É Chi-chi said.

        ¡ÈUh, I gotta go.¡É Goten said.  ¡ÈJa ne.¡É

¡ÈOkay, sayonara.¡É  Marron said, hanging up the phone.

*********

¡ÈI HATE this!¡É Bra said, walking inside her house.

¡ÈHate what?¡É Trunks asked, sitting in the living room.

¡ÈMarron and Goten.¡É She mumbled, opening her can of pop.  ¡ÈDid you know that he¡Çs taking her to a ZE concert?¡É

¡ÈZE?!  As in Zen Experience?¡É Trunks asked.

        ¡ÈYeah, why?¡É Bra asked.

¡ÈIt¡Çs only the best band in the universe!¡É Trunks moaned.  ¡ÈWhere¡Çd he get ticket¡Çs for that?  I¡Çve been on the waiting list for over two months.¡É

        ¡ÈYou serious?  I could get a ticket right now!¡É

        ¡ÈReally?¡É Trunks asked, sitting up.

¡ÈYeah, hold on.¡É She got up and picked up the phone and dialed the ticket hot line.  ¡ÈHello?  I¡Çd like to buy one ticket to Zen Experience.  What?  You¡Çre sold out?  Well, this is the daughter of you major sponsors!  Yes, Capsule Corp, and of you want----okay, good.  Thank you.¡É

¡ÈI can¡Çt believe you used that against them.¡É Trunks said with a laugh.

¡ÈDo you want to go, or not?¡É

        ¡ÈYeah!¡É Trunks said.

        ¡ÈThen you¡Çve got to use resources!¡É Bra said.  ¡ÈSo, when is it?¡É

¡ÈYou don¡Çt know?  Two days from now at nine.¡É Trunks said, getting excited.  Maybe he could ¡Æaccidentally¡Ç run into Marron. He would look deep into her eyes . .. he¡Çd win Marron back so fast it would make Goten¡Çs head spin.

¡ÈEarth to Trunks.  Come in, Trunks.  You have to get a grip on reality and hold on tight.¡É Bra laughed, knocking him on the head.

¡ÈOh sorry.  Hey, why aren¡Çt you going?¡É Trunks asked.

¡ÈI don¡Çt have anyone to go with.¡É She said with a pout.

¡ÈHey, neither do I,¡É Trunks said with a laugh.  ¡ÈBut I guess I sort of am--¡É He couldn¡Çt finish the
sentence, because there was a pillow in his mouth.

        ¡ÈWhat¡Çs I say?¡É

¡ÈJerk.¡É She mumbled, walking away.  The real reason she wasn¡Çt going to go was because she figured Trunks would be enough to stop the date.  He¡Çd come up to them, get in a fight or something . . .

 *******

Everyone avoided everyone else for the next two days, except for Marron and Goten, of course.  So Marron and
Goten didn¡Çt know Trunks was planning on coming, but that wouldn¡Çt have stopped them from going, they were really looking forward to it. Before they knew it, it was the night of the concert. And Marron was panicked.

This reminds me of her first date with Trunks! 18 thought, watching her run around the house, trying to
find a matching shoe, or the perfect blouse.

¡ÈMom!  Do you know where my white shorts are?¡É

¡ÈNo!  And it¡Çs too cold for those anyway!  I¡Çd wear those light blue ones!¡É 18 called back.

¡ÈI can¡Çt!  Bra borrowed them!¡É

¡ÈWhy don¡Çt you call her?¡É

¡ÈShe¡Çs not talking to me.¡É Marron said, looking for some pants, throwing her clothes all over the room.

¡ÈWhy not?¡É

¡ÈI have no idea!  Oh, I know!  I¡Çll wear that small skirt!  Or do you think that¡Çs too fancy for this?¡É

¡ÈTo fancy.¡É  18 said.  ¡ÈHere, let me help.¡É  They spent half the night in her room.

Finally, she chose a light yellow T-shirt, tucked into some dark blue jeans.  With a yellow and dark blue striped headband.  She decided not to wear her hair in pig tails, but in just let it hang down, which, surprisingly, went down to her shoulder blades.  She had on some light pink lipstick, and some light blush.  She grabbed some black zipper boots, and she was ready a few minutes before he came. She waited on the porch, not wanting to have to answer
any questions.   Pretty soon, he came, in his blue convertible.  He was wearing a cool windbreaker that
had a check mark on the back, and a plain blue T-shirt, which said in dark blue letters, ZE.  His hair was wiped back.

God he looks cute! She thought.

He watched as she walked down the stairs of the porch. God!  She looks beautiful! Goten thought, looking at her with wide eyes.

¡ÈI didn¡Çt know you owned one of these!¡É She gasped looking at it with envy.

¡ÈPretty sugoi, huh?¡É Goten said, coming out of his trance.

¡ÈAnd ten times more!¡É She said, hopping in.

¡ÈSo, we¡Çre off to Old Chicago?¡É

¡ÈYeah.¡É Marron said.  They pulled into the driveway, and Goten opened the door of the car for her.

¡ÈArigatou.¡É She said, stepping out of the car.  ¡ÈWell, let¡Çs go in.¡É

¡ÈOkay.¡É  They walked in the restaurant, and waited at the sign that said ¡ÆPlease wait to be seated.¡Ç

¡ÈHello, a table for two?¡É Some guy with a French accent said, showing them to a table.

¡ÈThank you.¡É Marron said.

¡ÈUh, yeah, thanks.¡É Goten said, then sat down beside her.

¡ÈSo, um, what do ya want?¡É Marron asked, looking at the menu.

¡ÈHow about a large cheese pizza?¡É

¡ÈOkay . . .is that all?¡É Marron asked suspiciously.

¡ÈYeah.  I can hold out till the concert.¡É Goten said.

¡ÈOne large cheese pizza.¡É Marron said to the waiter.

¡ÈOkay. That¡Çll be done in about ten minutes.¡É He said.

¡ÈAnd what would you like to drink?¡É

¡ÈHow about a Mountain Dew?¡É Goten said.

¡ÈOkay, and for the young woman?¡É

¡ÈA Pepsi.¡É

¡ÈOkay, we¡Çll have that to you right away.¡É He said, then walked away.

They didn¡Çt say anything for a little while, and then Goten broke the silence. ¡ÈSo . . . who¡Çs your favorite band member?¡É

¡ÈThe singer, Alec.  Yours?¡É

¡ÈOh, the drummer probably.  You know, Devin.¡É

¡ÈYeah, he¡Çs pretty cool.  It¡Çs gotta be hard to learn how to play that.¡É

¡ÈI¡Çll bet it is.¡É Goten said.  ¡ÈOnce okaasan made me take piano lessons.¡É

¡ÈYou¡Çre kidding!¡É

¡ÈNope, she said that if I ever wanted to become a real gentle man, then I had to learn how to play something. When I said I wanted to play the guitar, she almost started to cry, and said that I was going to be a punk when I grow up.¡É

¡ÈShe was right.¡É Marron said jokingly.

¡ÈI know.¡É Goten said.  They didn¡Çt run out of things to say for the rest of the time.

*******

¡ÈHey, Bra?¡É Trunks asked, poking his head into her room.

¡ÈYeah?¡É Bra asked, looking up room painting her toenails.

¡ÈCan I have the ticket?¡É

¡ÈYeah.  It¡Çs on my desk.¡É She said.  He ran in, grabbed the ticket, and ran down the hall, and to his car.

¡ÈBye Trunks.¡É Bra said.

****

¡ÈFigures.  A traffic jam.¡É Trunks mumbled.  He hit his horn, and sighed.  Why had he even talked to Catherine?  He liked Marron more then he had ever liked any girl he ever had.  She was smart, cool, funny, and pretty.  She was so patient with him.  She would always put up with his appetite.  She never criticized him.  Why had he kissed her?  Catherine was
just some dumb girl who liked to flirt.   Why did Goten have to do that though?  He knew that Trunks liked her a lot.  But Marron¡Çs eyes are really hard to resist . . .

¡ÈHere¡Çs your pizza.¡É The waiter said, setting it down on the table.

¡ÈThank you.¡É Marron said, and the waiter left.  They reached in and got some pizza.

¡ÈSo, do you like it?¡É Marron asked with a laugh.  Goten was pigging out on at least three pieces at once.

        ¡ÈOh, sorry.¡É Goten said, blushing.

¡ÈIt alright.  I¡Çm used to it,¡É She said, taking a bite of her own.  ¡ÈSo have you seen any new movies or anything?¡É

        ¡ÈWell, I saw that new movie, Usher¡Çs.¡É

        ¡ÈI heard that¡Çs really cool.¡É

¡ÈIt¡Çs not that great.  All the actors sucked.  The whole thing was about romance and stuff.¡É

¡ÈOh no, not romance.¡É Marron said playfully.

¡ÈI can¡Çt understand why you like that stuff.¡É Goten said.

¡ÈAnd you never will.¡É She said with a laugh and kept on eating the pizza.

¡ÈFinally!¡É Trunks said as the cars started to move forward. He pulled into the parking lot of the concert, just in time to see Goten and Marron laughing, walking to get into their seats.

¡ÈSo, how many of them were there?¡É Marron was asking.

        ¡ÈAt least twelve.¡É Goten said.

¡ÈHow awful for you!¡É She laughed.

¡ÈIt was the most embarrassing moment.  How about you?¡É  Goten said.

¡ÈWell . . . it would have to be . . . when I was 12.  It was my first day at middle school, and I accidentally walked into the boys bathroom, and my crush was using it.¡É She said.

¡ÈThat sounds like his most embarrassing moment!¡É Goten said.  Trunks felt himself getting really angry at Goten.  He was about to talk to him, with the curtains opened.  Everywhere people were screaming.  The intro to ¡ÆJester in the Corner¡Ç was playing.

The lead singer, Alec, stepped on to the stage, and started singing the song.

¡ÈJester in the corner . . . Laughs without a sound .. . Malady abounds, in our souls.¡É He started.  The screaming grew louder.  ¡ÈFrom deep within the minds of shadow walkers . . . nightmares seem to grow . . . From the pits of despair, that¡Çs where we will hold .. . the man who has no dreams of hope, his greed we will behold!¡É

¡ÈI love this band!¡É Some idiot beside Trunks yelled bouncing up and down.  Trunks tried disparately to reach Marron and Goten, but couldn¡Çt get around the screaming lunatics.

¡ÈThis spectacle shall be witnessed only by those who are meant to see it.  Do you hold the ticket to witness this show?  Look deep inside, you¡Çll know!¡É

¡ÈGoten!¡É Trunks yelled.  It was useless, that song was too loud.  He¡Çd have to wait till a calmer song played, which took a little while, apparently, they decided the calmer songs were best at the end.

¡ÈThe wings of gold will shatter . . . those who want to ride . . . worthiness come to those who try!¡É

¡ÈC¡Çmon!  Play What U Dream!¡É Trunks said, as if on cue, the intro to What U Dream.

        ¡ÈWith life just begun . . . my sleeping new son . ..¡É

¡ÈYes!¡É He said, then started to make his way towards Goten.

        ¡ÈWith fontanelle pulses with lives that he¡Çs lived .. . with memories he¡Çll learn to ignore . . . and when it is closed . . . He already knows . . . he¡Çs forgotten all he knows . . .¡É

        ¡ÈGoten!¡É Trunks said.

¡ÈTrunks?  What are you doing here?¡É Goten asked, looking kinda scared.

¡ÈI¡Çm here to get Marron back.¡É He said, looking Goten in the eyes.

¡ÈI don¡Çt think so.¡É Goten said, not looking scared anymore.  Just angry.

¡ÈLook, you know I like her.  A lot.¡É Trunks said.

¡ÈWell I like her, too.¡É Goten said cockily.
        ¡ÈWell . . . I got her first!¡É Trunks said.

        ¡ÈYou dumped her!¡É

        ¡ÈShe dumped me!¡É

¡ÈShut up you freaks!¡É Someone called.

¡ÈSo?  She doesn¡Çt want you anymore!¡É Goten yelled.

        ¡ÈThe dreams will come . . . through the night . . .¡É

¡ÈWhere is she anyway?¡É Trunks said.

        ¡ÈShe¡Çs going to the bathroom.

****

¡ÈThis is so aggravating!¡É Bra said, trying to tune in the radio to the concert.  She finally got it. ¡ÈGood.¡É She said, and laid back. ¡ÈHe¡Çs forgotten all he knows . . .¡É Then a voice interfered with the song.  ¡ÈYou dumped her!¡É

¡ÈShe dumped me!¡É Another voice said.  Bra sat up.  She knew those voices.  ¡ÈTrunks!  Goten!¡É She whined, and ran out to her car.  This obviously wasn¡Çt going to work without her.

¡ÈYou little--¡É Goten said but couldn¡Çt finish because Trunks punched him.  Goten glared at Trunks, and knocked him down.

¡ÈMosh pit!¡É The idiot who was jumping up and down said.  Everyone screamed and a Mosh pit was formed right where their fight had been.

        ¡ÈGoten!  Trunks!¡É Marron yelled.  ¡ÈStop it!¡É

They ignored her and kept on fighting.

¡ÈGoten!¡É Bra yelled, parking her car.  She could see the fight from the parking spot.  ¡ÈWhat the heck are
you two doing?¡É She screamed, running in.  The band started playing a really up beat song, with pretty much no lyrics.  She ran down the isle to where they were fighting.  She saw Marron trying to stop them.

        ¡ÈWhat¡Çs going on?¡É Bra asked.

¡ÈI don¡Çt know, they just started fighting!¡É Marron said, looking like she was about to cry.

¡ÈI can stop them.¡É Bra said confidentially.

        ¡ÈHow?¡É Marron asked.

¡ÈJust watch.¡É She said, then screamed at the top of her lungs, ¡ÈGOTEN!¡É

Goten stopped and looked over at her.  Bra walked over to him, grabbed his coat, and pushed her lips against his.  She thought he was going to pull away, but then he started to kiss back.

Marron wanted to cry.  ¡ÈNot again.¡É She whispered.

Trunks walked over to her.  ¡ÈAre you okay?¡É He asked over the sound of people screaming and the loud band.

        ¡ÈNo.¡É She said.

        ¡ÈLook, Marron, gomenasai...¡É Trunks said.

¡ÈI know,¡É She said, then they kissed.
