Chibi Bra dutifully sprinkled flowers
down the aisle. She kept her head high and pointedly ignored Trunks,
Chibi Goten, and Marron.
“Goku-san, how goes the hunt
for the dragonballs?” she asked sweetly.
“Oh, er, um, it’s going.”
“That’s good. You know,
Chibi Goten and I were so hoping to be adults for the wedding, but that’s
okay. I mean, childhood is the best time of your life, right?” Chibi
Bra smiled at him and kept going.
“Okay, flower girl, don’t
stop in the middle of the aisle. Not during the real wedding,” the
minister said.
“So sorry.”
“Okay, ring bearer’s next.”
Chibi Goten marched down the
aisle holding the pillow and frowning.
“No, no, no. You’re
happy to be here. Happy. Put on a happy face.”
Chibi Goten glared at him.
“That is not happy.”
Chibi Goten turned the corners
of his mouth up.
“Definitely better,” the minister
approved.
Chibi Goten came up next to
Chibi Bra and sighed. “Do you forgive me yet?” he whispered.
She looked over at him. “Maybe.”
“Please do.”
“Why?”
“Well, I miss you.”
“So?” Chibi Bra asked.
“B-chan…” Chibi Goten transferred
his pillow to his other hand and took hers. “Please?”
She looked down. She couldn’t
pretend she still didn’t like him…“Oh, all right. You’re forgiven.”
“Thank you, B-chan.
You won’t regret this.”
“I think maybe I will,” Chibi
Bra muttered.
“Are you going to forgive
Trunks and Marron?”
“As soon as I get my revenge,
sure.”
Goten grinned. “I have a plan.”
“Oh?”
“Probably not as good as yours,
but this is something we can pull off even though the wedding’s tomorrow.”
“Okay, tell me after the rehearsal.”
Chibi Goten grinned, squeezed
her hand, and then dropped it as Trunks came up the aisle, flanked by Vegeta
and Gohan, who were his best men. Marron had asked Pan to be her
maid of honor in Bra’s absence.
The rest of the rehearsal
went without a hitch and no one noticed when Chibi Goten and Chibi Bra
slipped away. “So, what’s your plan?” Chibi Bra demanded.
Chibi Goten grinned. “What
if I lost their rings?”
“Lost the rings?” Chibi Bra
exclaimed.
“Yep.”
Chibi Bra considered it. “Of
course, they aren’t really lost.”
“Nope.”
“That would be pretty good.
Where would they be?”
Chibi Goten grinned at her.
“Well, I was thinking that we’d be wearing them.”
“Wearing wedding rings?
You’re joking!”
“No! They’d never think
to look on us, would they?”
Chibi Bra considered it.
It would be nice to wear a wedding ring with Goten, even if it was just
for a moment. “Well…”
“Come on. Think what
a good prank it will be.”
“Well…”
“You said that already.”
“Okay, let’s do it.”
“Good girl! I’ll slip
you the ring just as soon as I get it. Then we can act all dumb and
kid-like. Since they seem to want us to be little kids so badly,
I figure let’s give it to them.”
Chibi Bra grinned and stood
up. “You know, I’ll almost miss all this,” she said as she left.
***
Marron had planned and planned.
An unexpected stroke of luck had provided her with a flower girl and ring
bearer. Yet it only takes two disgruntled children to turn a perfect
wedding into a disaster.
“Psst, B-chan. Here it
is,” Chibi Goten whispered, pressing something hard and round into her
palm.
Chibi Bra pressed her gloved
hand around the ring and worked it onto her finger. “This is so weird.”
“I know. I feel like
I’m getting married. But they deserve it. This sucks, being
a ring bearer.”
“Oh, well, being the flower
girl is so much better.”
“Actually, I’d rather be a
ring bearer.”
“Duh.”
“Okay, flower girl, go,” someone
whispered.
Chibi Bra sighed and began
marching, sprinkling flower petals along the aisle.
“Oh, look at her, isn’t she
precious?” she heard someone murmur.
“Just darling in that dress,”
another replied.
Slow, painful deaths for everyone
in this room. Except maybe Goten. She got up to the altar and stopped,
smiling.
Goten stood next to her. “Now,
we just wait,” he whispered.
The minister began his soliloquy.
Finally, he got to the part Chibi Goten and Chibi Bra were waiting for.
“You may now exchange rings.”
Chibi Goten, all innocence
personified, held out the cushion. Trunks reached out, then paled.
“Goten!” he whispered. “Where’re the rings?”
Chibi Goten looked at him
in shock. “Gee whiz, but I don’t know! B-chan, do you know where
they might have gone?”
Chibi Bra made her eyes disingenuously
wide and shook her head. “Nuh-uh. Are they gone?”
Trunks glared at them. “Okay,
what’s up with you two?”
“Up? No, no. We’re
just the little kids that you want, Niichan,” Chibi Bra told him innocently.
“Is that a problem now? We thought it’s what you wanted.”
Trunks stared at them for
a moment, then blanched. “You heard our conversation.”
“Conversation?” Chibi Goten
asked.
“We’ll wish you back to adults.
I promise. Can we please have the rings? Please?”
“Well, I do hate to see a
grown man beg,” Chibi Bra said. She felt pressure on the back of
her neck. She looked up. “Oh. Tousan.”
“Give your brother his ring,”
Vegeta ordered. He looked over at Goten. “You, too.”
“Um, yes, sir,” they mumbled,
sliding the rings off and handing them over.
“Good.” Vegeta stepped back.
“You may proceed.”
“Um…um…you may kiss the bride,”
the minister said.
Trunks and Marron stepped
forward and kissed each other. They managed to do it without too
much embarrassment and stepped forward to dance.
Chibi Goten and Chibi Bra
grinned at each other and exchanged low two-fingers.
