Crash And Burn

Author's note: Marron and Trunks have each gone there own ways. when Trunks started school, Marron saw even less of Trunks and
they grew far apart, only hearing about each others lives through other contacts.

He flew to the tree outside here window and sat there waiting for her to come home, must as he had done for the past 15 weeks. He didn't know why he was so compelled to do so, he just knew his instincts told him to, and like any normal person, he did. Sitting there, he listened to the DJ on her radio blab on and on about the up coming concert and how in 15 minutes he would be giving away another set of tickets. Often he pondered why she would leave the radio on, not knowing why she did so of course. He scooted back toward where the trunk of the tree branch met and went over what he knew about her life. Both of her parents were killed but a massive virus that came and then disappeared after killing hundreds of thousands.

After that she was nowhere near as active as he had remembered her being. She had gone out with 3 different guys in the time of his watching and listened when she opened her window to tell the moon about the "fuck head" she had just broken up with and even as she told it a couple of times how she wished she had someone to talk to. She just wanted a friend, someone to lean on and talk to, then would tell of how she wished the virus had gotten her too. Trunks horrified watched on numerous occasions as she would climb up on her window sill and contemplate suicide. After thinking it over for a few minutes she would come inside and crying, fall asleep.

Trunks watched as Marron entered her apartment and threw her stuff down. He wanted so badly to comfort her but was sure that she wouldn't remember him. When was it that they last saw each other? At least when she was 4 and he 8. Curiously he cocked his head as she walked over to her desk and opened her window. Tonight she talked to the tree and told it how horrible her life and friends were. After sitting there for a while, she climbed into her bed and fell asleep.

He didn't know what to do. He didn't want to leave her alone, fearing she might jump. He knew she wanted to, and knew that she would when she felt the time was right. Levitating, he figured he had at least half an hour before she'd wake up. Slowly, glancing back a minimum of 6 times, he flew off for some coffee.

When he returned 10 minutes later, Marron was screaming and fighting in her sleep. She sat straight up, panting heavily, in a cold sweat, eyes wide. Trunks watched patiently with a tinge of interest as she walked to her still open window and looked down. Looking disappointed, she quietly left the room. A few minutes later, Trunks heard the roof door open and close. He climbed to the uppermost part of the tree and watched as she looked pleased over the ledge. Taking a deep breath, she watched as the few cars and scattered people passed below on the street.

Trunks knew now why is subconscience had brought him to the tree. He had to stop her from making this fatal mistake. He knew that if he came forth too soon, all hell would break loose and who knows what might happen then. Patience was his only card in this game and he was going to hold it till he had to draw.

Marron looked back at the door. *Was this really the only way out?* She looked down at her mother and father's wedding rings then up at the sky. "See ya soon" she whispered, then stepped over the edge.

Trunks' eyes widened when he watched the blonde falling to her death. He tried to jump to save her but something was holding him back. Quickly he turned around. "Damn Jacket!!!" he cursed at the stuck article of clothing then watched as she passed him by. At top speed he flew down and caught Marron in his arms, mere seconds before she would have hit the ground. He slowly up-righted himself with her still in his arms. Cautiously, she opened her eyes then gasped as she looked deep into 2 blues eyes that were concentrating hard on her 2 own. After a few seconds of calculation, Marron realized what this person had done and who he was. Then quickly she wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.

"Do you know me?" he asked startled.

She smiled. "Trunks, you know how long I have been waiting for you to come find me? To come talk to me?"

"I'm sorry. I wanted to but I didn't know if you'd remember me."

"Trunks, please. This is so not you. The Trunks I remember would do anything he wanted to. He'd ask a stranger a question, anything. You were boundless

"Ok, then why were you going to kill yourself?"

"I had given up all hope. I didn't know where you were. Everyone had left me and I thought you did too."

He put her down and held her close. "Marron, I'd never leave you, even if I am not physically there and you know that. I know that is something
your father taught you and you know that they are all still with you."

She smiled.

"Come on. Lets go get something to drink." He picked her up and carried her to a coffee shop where they sat and drank coffee on end. The cashier turned on her little radio and a song drifted gently through the air. The 2 sat back and listened. Marron thought about how much her life was like the song. Trunks too thought about how strange the likeness between her life and the song was and then felt that the song was written by him about her, for her, with only 1 exception. He couldn't rhyme even if he had too.

***

When you feel all alone

And the world has turned it's back on you

give me a moment please

to tame your wild wild heart

I know you feel like the walls are closing in on you

It’s hard to find relieve and people can be so cold

When darkness is upon your door

and you feel like you can't take anymore

Let me be the one you call

If you jump, I'll break your fall

Lift you up and fly away with you into the night

If you need to fall apart

I can mend a broken heart

If you need to crash then crash and burn

Your not alone

When you feel all alone

and a loyal friend is hard to find

Your caught in a one way street

with the monsters in your head

When hopes and dreams are far away

and you feel that you can't face the day

Let me be the one you call

If you jump, I'll break you fall

Lift you up and fly away with you into the night

If you need to fall apart

I can mend a broken heart

If you need to crash then crash and burn

Your not alone

Because there has always been heartache and pain

And when its over you'll breathe again

You'll breathe again

When you feel all alone

and the world has turned its back on you

Give me a moment please

to tame your wild wild heart

Let me be the one you call

If you jump, I'll break your fall

Lift you up and fly away with you into the night

If you need to fall apart

I can mend a broken heart

If you need to crash, then crash and burn

Your not alone
